RHS Rosemoor-Winter Sculpture Exhibition

Posted on 30th January, 2023

The garden at RHS Rosemoor in North Devon is a place I love to visit at any time of the year. Even in Winter, there is always something to see. It's in quite a sheltered spot, surrounded by trees, so on a sunny day it is still pleasant to sit and listen to the birdsong whilst munching on a sandwich. Although today my friend treated me to hot chocolate and cake in the Otter Cafe which was a very welcome treat.

One of my favourite events is the Winter Sculpture Exhibition which usually runs from mid November until the end of January. Some sculptures are annual exhibits, but there are always new pieces to admire. Each piece is available to buy, and there are free booklets available highlighting each sculptor and their particular field of work. Many of these artists are quite local to Devon, so Rosemoor is a brilliant location to show their work to potential buyers.

The sculptures are arranged around all parts of the garden and some of the smaller pieces are in the entrance building. We spent about 3 hours in all walking and looking at the sculptures. We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny day which really lit up the glass and metallic items.

Another highlight of the day was seeing so many snowdrops around the garden, and even a few brave daffodils flowering in the orchard. Such a welcome reminder that Spring is just around the corner.

RHS Rosemoor is located just outside Great Torrington in North Devon. For details on how to find it, admission times and prices, etc. please go to RHS Rosemoor.
